Gender versus Sexual orientation terms

We were recently asked if there are specific terms for someone who is transgender and attracted to same gender or opposite gender.
 
To answer that question, I consulted a wonderful booklet published by PFLAG (https://www.pflag.org/) titled “Guide to being a Trans Ally.” The first chapter explains the terms “gender expression,” “gender identity,” and “sexual orientation” and gives several examples to help readers understand the difference between these terms. To answer the question: the terms “gay,” “lesbian,” and “straight” apply to people who are transgender. So, for example:

• A woman who has transitioned male to female (MTF) and is attracted to men would identify as “a woman who is transgender and straight.”
• A woman who has transitioned male to female (MTF) and is attracted to women would identify as “a woman who is transgender and a lesbian.”
• A man who has transitioned female to male (FTM) and is attracted to women would identify as “a man who is transgender and straight”
• A man who has transitioned female to male (FTM) and is attracted to men would identify as “a man who is transgender and gay.”
• And a person who is transgender and who is attracted to both men and women would identify themselves as “a person who is transgender and bisexual.”
